New community space and meeting point
As a result of a long preparatory process, the Pannon Community Hub, a new meeting point for students, young people from Veszprém and the surrounding area, was created in cooperation between the University of Pannonia and VEB2023 Jsc., and will be open to the public from 30 September 2021!
On 30 September 2021, at 11:30 a.m., the ceremonial opening of the Pannon Community Hub will take place in building 'E' of the University of Pannonia, and from 5 p.m., the new community space will debut as the venue for the programme ’VEB2023 With You’ (VELED)!
The aim of the University of Pannonia and VEB2023 Jsc. is to build a strong, open community and volunteer base of university students, young people from Veszprém and the surrounding area in Pannon Community Hub, which will help the successful implementation of the VEB2023 European Capital of Culture programme and encourage young people to actively participate in university life.The new venue is not only for university students, but also for high school students and even the older generation.
Pannon Community Hub aims to become not only a community space, but also an intellectual art space.
This is where we want to plant the seeds of the ECoC's Generation Bridge project. Our concept of the Generation Bridge is to organise programmes with representatives of the generations that help to create communication and real and meaningful connection between the generations.
The first workshop was attended by representatives of student and secondary school student organisations, pensioners' organisations, nationality clubs and community involvement professionals. We started thinking together in groups, using both mapping methods. As result, a lot of interesting insights, emotions, ideas and practical programme ideas were generated.
The University of Pannonia Community Hub houses the Secretariat of the international organisation UNeECC (University Network of the European Capitals of Culture), which links the University of Pannonia with 50 other European higher education institutions also located in European Capitals of Culture. Pannon KözTÉR also hosts the CoolLaunch Youth Idea Workshop, which is also open to high school and university students.
In the future, the staff of the Pannon Community Hub will be waiting for the interested visitors with numerous discussions, lectures and varied programmes.
